Quarter to Semester Transition

A note on Semesters: Cal Poly is scheduled to switch to the semester system as of Fall 2026 term. Efforts to build the semester curriculum (i.e., courses, programs, schedules) are currently underway. If you started in Fall 2022 or before but end up taking more than 4 years to graduate, chances are you might finish your studies under the semester system.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your Chemistry faculty advisor or submit your question HERE.

Quarter to semester pathways for math support for chemistry and biochemistry majors.

For students who do not complete all of their math support courses prior to Fall 2026, the following pathways are available. Students who complete MATH 141 prior to Fall 2026 should take the cap 142 course in Fall 2026 and the cap 143 course in Spring 2027; chemistry majors would then subsequently take MATH 2263. Students who complete MATH 142 prior to Fall 2026 should take either cap 143 course in the fall of 2026; chemistry majors would then subsequently take MATH 2263. Biochemistry students who complete MATH 143 prior to Fall 2026 will have no additional required math. Chemistry students who complete MATH 143 prior to Fall 2026 will take MATH 2263 on semesters.
